I am Ricardo Silva

I am a scientist, engineer, and systems strategist working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, health systems, ethics, and human futures. My career has moved across universities, ministries of health, global organizations, startups, and innovation ecosystems — always with the same purpose: to understand how complex systems evolve, and how people and institutions can navigate that complexity with clarity and integrity.

I do not work in a single discipline because the problems I care about do not belong to a single discipline. My work spans biomedical engineering, digital health, clinical engineering, AI governance, organizational strategy, and narrative design. What connects these fields is a commitment to responsible innovation and the belief that technology, human values, and institutional design must evolve together.

Today, I selectively collaborate with leaders and organizations facing high‑complexity challenges — particularly those building AI-enabled platforms, diagnostics ecosystems, digital health infrastructures, or future-oriented academic and research programs. I engage only when my involvement can materially shift trajectory, strengthen architecture, or help shape systems that are consequential for society.

Alongside my scientific and strategic work, I am the creator of the Comet Surfer universe — a narrative exploration of civilization, ethics, and technological futures. Storytelling is not separate from my professional life; it is another way of examining how systems behave, how societies adapt, and how humans make meaning in environments shaped by intelligence, uncertainty, and change.

My work, whether scientific, strategic, or narrative, is guided by the same principle: Complexity is not a barrier — it is a landscape. And with the right perspective, it becomes navigable.
